This semester, students at Gateway Elementary School have been learning all about 5-4-3-2-1 Go!® and how they can use the countdown message to live healthy lives.  Live Well Omaha Kids has partnered with the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Service Learning Academy and Health & Kinesiology graduate students from a class led by Dr. Danae Dinkel to help start a Go! Team at Gateway. The Go! Team consists of a small group of 6th graders who were elected by their teachers to be peer models and healthy living advocates.

The Go! Team recently met with the UNO graduate students to plan a “Day of Play”. On November 6th, all 120 Gateway 6th graders will visit UNO for a fun day of active play, led by their peers, with the support of the UNO grad students. They will also enjoy a healthy lunch and a campus tour.

Live Well Omaha Kids is honored to bring these groups together to help create a memorable and meaningful experience for the students at Gateway. It’s our hope that the Day of Play, along with additional opportunities to hear the message of 5-4-3-2-1 Go!®, will impact these students and put them on a path of life-long healthy living. You can read more about the 5-4-3-2-1 Go!® message and how you can use it at
