Live Well Omaha Kids welcomes contractor Cassandra Knutson as our Youth Wellness Coordinator. This role drives the implementation of our school wellness work in the Greater Omaha community.
Hi all! I’m Cassandra Knutson and I am happy to announce that I am assisting Live Well Omaha Kids with their Youth Wellness initiatives: Partners for Healthy Schools, Safe Routes to School, and the 5-4-3-2-1 Go!® campaign.
I have my Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in Kinesiology and Health with an emphasis in Exercise Science, and my Master’s of Public Health from Kansas State University, with an emphasis in Human Nutrition. Yay for physical activity and healthy eating! During my time at K-State, I served as graduate research assistant where I had the opportunity to work with several projects aimed at promoting health and wellness in the settings where youth and adolescents interact on a daily basis – for instance, at school, home, youth sport practices, and after school programs like the Girl Scouts.
After all that education, I set out into the world of public health and health promotion, and fortunately, I’ve been able to have some great experiences since then. I’ve worked on everything from chronic disease prevention, to coaching and mentoring young athletes, to assisting companies with their wellness initiatives (just to name a few)! And now, I’m eager to take on a new adventure and get back into the world of youth wellness by working to support Live Well Omaha Kids in their efforts to reduce and prevent childhood obesity.
In my free time, you’ll find me spending time outdoors, riding my bike, working on home projects and discovering the local hot spots with my fiancée, Evan, and trying to keep up with my energetic (and extremely lovable) Australian Shepherd puppy, Bandit.
